Before and after

Don't move... improve!

Don’t move… IMPROVE!

A current renovation project. We have taken a drab (I am sure our clients wont mind calling it drab) boring house and added some new life to it. The current house has three bedrooms so we have extended this to five. Not only that, the master suite has a large on-suite and a large walk-in wardrobe. As well as a dedicated upstairs laundry room so you don’t have to carry your washing up and down the stairs every time we wash our clothes. Why do we do that?

The full height open-plan hallway that divides the ‘east and ‘west’ wings has a floating cantileve staircase and glass banister that takes you up to the first floor. Creating a large dollop of wow factor when you enter through the impressive 1.5m wide front door.

The house is located in a conservation area so limited on what design and materials we could use. The existing house is rendered in white which compliments the local ironstone used on the extension. Large (but not imposing) contemporary windows allow in lots of natural light. While large bifold doors in the master bedroom suite open out onto a private balcony overlooking the garden.

The new large contemporaary kitchen, complete with breakfast island and large dining area also has bifold doors on two of its elevations. Opening itself up to both the garden and outdoor ding areas.

The proposed design is certainly a big visual improvement over the uninspiring and mundanity of the current house and will be more in harmony to the street scene of this conservation village than the current house.

The extension will be constructed from ICF’s (Insulated Concrete Forms) so will be ultra energy efficient in terms of insulation. The existing house will also be re-insulated internally making the whole house close to a zero net energy house.
